Jo has over 25 years experience as a qualified learning and development professional (MCIPD) and a personal coach & mentor (ILM Level 7). She is passionate about challenging, encouraging and inspiring people to think consciously about their behaviour and its impact.
Jo spent 10 years heading up the Management Development function for M&S Bank working closely with HSBC and First Direct. This involved designing and delivering thought provoking leadership & cultural change programmes that drove business growth and influenced a culture of outstanding customer service. Prior to this she undertook roles in the operation, projects, stores and HR.
Jo is curious, energetic, supportive and creative in her approach and she designs with the end in mind. In her role at M&S Bank she worked in partnership with the Executive Board and Senior Management team to embed and promote a learning culture significantly increasing employee engagement through the development agenda, increasing it year on year to reach 82%.
Jo completely changed the way M&S Bank measured the performance and behaviour of employees and introduced and embedded a new language and brand across the bank. It was pivotal in creating a ‘think customer’ culture and was years ahead of the Group including HSBC and First Direct.
Jo has extensive coaching, mentoring and training delivery experience and is a qualified practitioner of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). 75% of attendees on Jo’s Talent programmes over the last five years have been promoted, attained new roles or have moved into global roles. Jo also actively mentors for the CIPD and for local charities, recently supporting the CEO of Cheshire Young Carers.
Through working in partnership to create & design a highly effective 8 day Leadership Development Programme Jo was awarded a National Training Award (NTA) and spoke at a number of conferences owing to its success, including at the NEC in Birmingham and the CCC in London.
